Are you a good person?

Hello, my name is Spencer Balsz, owner of Tranos Designs. I feel that it is very important to share this message with you and therefore I have placed this page in my website. My purpose for sharing this message is not to judge you but to encourage you to think about something that I feel is the most important concept that we as humans ought to understand.

I would like to begin by painting a picture using one of Ray Comfort's scenarios. Image yourself on a plane flying 30,000 feet in the sky and all of the sudden the captain makes the announcement that there is a big problem with the plane, he informs everyone that there is a parachute under their chair and in about five minutes everyone will have to jump from the plane. What would you do in this situation? Would you grab the parachute, put it on and trust in it to save you or would you sit there and say “I'm not so sure that the captain knows what he's talking about.” We'll get back to this scenario in a minute but for now I want to talk about the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments were given to Moses from God in Exodus chapter 20:3-17.

1.You shall have no other gods before me.
Have you ever put anything before God?

2.You shall not make for yourself false idols.
Have you ever created a false idol? This includes trying to create a god to fit your feelings i.e. "My god wouldn't do that."

3.You shall not use the Lord's name in vein.
Have you ever used the Lord's name as a cuss word?

4.Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy.
Have you always set aside a day of rest?

5.Honor your father and your mother.
Have you always listened your father and mother?

6.You shall not murder.
God considers hatred to be as bad as murder.

7.You shall not commit adultery.
Jesus said that just looking with lust is adultery.

8.You shall not steal.
Have you ever cheated on a test or downloaded illegal music?

9.You shall not lie.
Have you ever decieved or done anything dishonest?

10.You shall not covet.
Have you ever wanted something that somebody else had?

Statistics say that ten out of ten people die. When you die and face God on judgment day and give an account for everything you have done in your life, will you be guilty or innocent of keeping God's commandments. I know that I have broken all ten of these commandments. I know that in addition to the love and goodness that God has for me, he is also just and holy and does not want his perfect kingdom perverted by the presence of sinful men and women. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” The Bible even says that all liars will have their place in the lake of fire (Rev. 21:8). I am a lying, coveting, adulterous, blasphemous, thieve, just to name a few. I know that I will be guilty when God judges me and I know that I will deserve punishment in Hell. This is the scariest thing that I can imagine.

Time for the good news. Because God loves us so much, he sent his son, Jesus Christ to earth to sacrifice himself for us. It's as though I stole your wallet at the mall and I was caught red-handed on video. After being arrested and going through the the process, I stand before a just and good judge and say, “Your honor, I know that I am guilty of stealing John's wallet.” Let's say that my punishment was a $400,000 fine. I don't have $400,000 but all of the sudden a stranger walks into the courtroom and says, “I have sold everything that I had so that I may pay for Spencer's fine.” the stranger pays the fine and all of the sudden I am free to go. I'm not innocent, I am still guilty for stealing your wallet but the stranger has paid my fine. In the same way, Jesus Christ has paid the fine against us. He gave everything he could so that those of us who accept his gift of forgiveness may inherit the kingdom of heaven. Everyone will be guilty when they are judged by God, nobody will be innocent. There are some of us however that will be forgiven and the forgiven will go to heaven.

Back to our original scenario, I am assuming that you would grab the parachute, put it on and hold on to it as tightly as you can because you know that it is the only thing that will save you. We might feel as though we can handle life on our own for a while but when we are faced with the reality of a jump that we can't get ourselves out of, we realize our need for a savior.
